The Spanish ambassador, Jose Maria Ridao, said on Tuesday that India would be asked to serve as the focus country at the Madrid International Book Fair in 2025. The 46th International Kolkata Book Fair started on Monday and has Spain as its focus country.
We want to have a direct relationship with Indian writers, which will start from this book fair in a wider way, said Ridao, who was present at the "Spain Pavilion."
"India will be featured at the 2025 Madrid International Book Fair. Typically, it is restricted to publishers, and however, we will broaden the scope to encompass music and film, "He told a news organization.
Leading Indian publishing firms are also releasing works by Spanish authors, according to Ridao.
He added in this state and India, "We are glad that people are studying, reading, and proclaiming love for the Spanish language.
The ambassador said that versions of the famed Jaipur Literary Festival would take place later this year in Madrid and another Spanish city.
"The Jaipur Literary Festival has previously been hosted in the US and the UK, but this is the first time it is being held in a nation that does not speak English. Many Indian authors and musicians are well-known in Spain, "explained Ridao.
When asked about Bengal and Spain's mutual love of football, he responded, "We support some Indian foundations. To promote football, our first-division teams are traveling to New Delhi. On this, individuals are working."
He continued by saying that a football dictionary from Spanish to Bengali, comprising expressions used in the Spanish league, will be unveiled during the Kolkata Book Fair.
